That was quick, just got this from my mum in chch

So I’ve paid top tier since Netflix launched. Top tier is currently 4 screens and in UHD and costs $24.99 p/m

Family of 3. So we never needed the 4, but had to subscribe to that plan to get the benefit of UHD as it’s not offered on the lower tier plans.

This week my daughter moved out of town to go to Uni. So there’s 2 of us in the house, my kid is still part of our household, but living away for a bit, …but now will not be able to watch Netflix. Still paying for 4 screens though.

I’ll now need to spend an extra $8 a month to allow her to watch. That’s a bit shit. She’s not earning, uni isn’t cheap, so fuck it, I’ll cancel.

It’s not the extra $8 that annoys me. It’s the fact I can’t downgrade my plan now she’s left, and still get UHD. I’d be happy to pay less for my plan, and add her as an extra subscription but that’s not an option.

Also, I’m not elderly. I’m middle aged and shit is tight financially. I’d rather keep the other subscriptions I pay for and get rid of Netflix all-together.

I’m sure me canceling won’t affect Netflix at all, but I’m also sure there are a load of other folk in a same situation as me.

It’s not about trying to get a free ride, it’s about getting a return on the money and loyalty that I’ve already invested being marginalised.

The service has deteriorated, series get cancelled, prices rise, and now there an extra cost that has been added for a function that previously was endorsed and celebrated by Netflix. Netflix used to champion multi-home users.

Fuck ‘em Another disrupter that’s forgotten why they started.

Canceled. Feels great
