Okay but thats not really the question here. If she were a few months to a year older would she still have been much younger than him? Yes. Would he be in court for it? No. So why are we still pretending that this magical number is the difference between a normal consensual encounter and a decade or so in federal prison? I knew several girls in highschool that had some questionable relationships with significantly older men and were given gifts or spending money and whatnot. they didnt seem victimized to me, they were very open about it and thats a pretty common thing anywhere you go. Im not sure i personally see a crime being committed if no one is victimized by it and i think judging your morals based on what your government says is pretty silly and not very thoughtful. Now, if she felt wronged by it and charged him thats a different story, but it seems she made a conscious decision not to based on the context. Im also not at all condoning this type of behavior, i think its gross and weird but i dont think its necessarily wrong or criminal in every case and demolishing someones life over a victimless encounter certainly is morally wrong.
