/r/DarkSouls2 - Salty Sunday.

You can certainly have your opinions, but a lot of people find it irritating when other players decide they are an arbiter of what is and isn't acceptable in PvP; saying such-and-such technique or weapon or playstyle is dishonorable, spam, cheap, OP.

For one, you're saying your opponent didn't deserve their parry. Well, they got it, they didn't cheat, they just used the tools available in the game. But they're a bad person for using things that are in the game? If they were able to do it within the rules of the game, they deserved it. It's insulting to them to say they're a bad player for doing something completely legitimate everywhere except in the minds of "honor" Souls players.

And secondly, that attitude of "such-and-such technique is not okay" encourages people to not get better at the game. If this technique is just 'cheap' or 'OP' then there's no point in learning how to counter it because anyone using cheap/OP/spammy techniques is basically cheating, yeah? Except all those techniques and weapons have counters built right into the game. Like parry spam, if someone actually is spamming parries, then you can just walk behind them and backstab them, or you can use the multitude of unparriable attacks in the game, or you can just wait for a safe time to attack. There's nothing in the game that can't be countered, and instead just dismissing certain playstyles as 'unacceptable' discourages players from getting better.

And finally, when you take both of those previous points together, it leads to the irritating situation where whenever I beat an opponent like a red-headed stepchild, they send me hatemail or shit like this. When you lose in DSII, it's because you fucked up, not because you're opponent is somehow simultaneously both a noob but also impossible for you to beat.
