Rachel Weisz doesn't think female James Bond is a good idea: 'Women should get their own stories'

They're one in the same, in my opinion. The people who argue against changing genders/race of characters always make this point, but the writers always do something to make the gender/race of the character relevant. In other words, a female James Bond (Jamie Bond?) could end up fighting a literal patriarchy. A secret cabal of men organized to maintain their power and wealth through a coercive underpinning of misogyny throughout society. They could be involved in human trafficking, undermining democracies that elect women, and propping up elected and non-elected leaders who endorse misogyny. That's just one idea I came up with right now. A better writer would probably have something more unique/less on-the-nose. I'm just saying, Jamie Bond isn't inherently lazy. It's only lazy if the writing is lazy.
