“They’re Taking Everybody” — Videos Show Texas Troopers Ripping Apart Immigrant Families During Traffic Stops

I disagree. A few blocks away from my house there is a 4 way stop with a cop hiding waiting for someone to 'run 'the stop sign. There is a cop car there at all hours of the day. I have come to a complete stop and got a ticket because I didn't stop long enough.

This has happened to almost all of my neighbors.

This isn't an isolated incident either. In rural communities across the nation cops are looking for out of state license plates and writing bogus tickets. They know that the person who received the ticket won't want to come back to their shithole town to fight the ticket.

In my university town it happened to me at least three times an office would walk up to me and snatch a beer out of my hand, without even speaking with me first and demand, not ask, that I give them my ID immediately. In the same town my vehicle was broken down on the side of the road and I was waiting for AAA to come assist me. A cop pulls up behind me, asks what I was doing. When I explained he did not offer help. Instead he demanded that I be searched as well as my car. As he was asking he was attempting to open my car door.

Sorry for the rambling stories but I wrote it to say this. I've had maybe 9 interactions with police officers. In none of these interactions did I see an officer acting in an altruistic, or even a neutral, manner. They all have seemed happy to have 'got me' doing something wrong. They are looking for ways to make sure people are having their worst day by enforcing arbitrary rules in a draconian fashion, to such a degree that even when a rule is not broken, it is broken.

With numerous stories across the nation of cops shooting unarmed black people, including children, and facing absolutely no consequences I'm beginning to think that a good cop is the exception and not the rule. A good cop would not choose to be a part of an organization that has a culture of protecting cops that commit homicide.
