Reality TV's Racism Problem Is Impossible to Ignore

That's your opinion and I used to share it too but hear me out. I've been an avid Television watcher my whole life. Heck, I learned English from being practically raised by a television. During the coronavirus crisis I desperately needed as escape and all my shows were making me feel bad with their dark tone and the lighter ones made me feel sad because that all seemed like it's so far away. So I randomly clicked on The Real Housewives of New York and decided to play an episode in the background while I was working. And in the past few months I've been doing that all day while I'm pulling 13 hour shifts from home and it's actually been very entertaining to watch these random people fight over really really stupid arguments. It was a kind of escapism for me honestly. I mean at one point, a whole season's storyline was a fight because one woman called the other a Madonna. It's pretty nonsensical and funny if you ask me. And I've talked to friends who also dabble in reality tv. And I used to judge them for it and none of them actually take it seriously. They just watch it for the meaningless drama and the escapism. It's just cheap easy entertainment to watch. I have yet to watch another reality TV series so I'm not speaking for all of them. But I'm currently on season 11 of real housewives New York and yeah.. I can think of worse things I've watched before
