Reddit, why has supernatural (religious) magic ceased to be seen upon the age of technology?

The Vatican accepts that God did not create humanity? How does anyone believe in that theory then? Why don't religious people think "supernatural happenings only occurred in the past when we couldn't document events, that's kinda weird."? Because it would mean they were wrong in what they believe. Most people do not like being wrong and will never reflect on their life and choose a different belief (regardless if it is factually more beneficial/truthful/etc to their own). That is essentially only keeping religion around for the sole purpose of band-aiding the fear of death. "Oh by the way, you know how we said God created the universe with his magical powers? Yeah that didn't happen, it was just evolution." Well if that didn't happen, what about the stories of prophets splitting seas in half? People healing dying humans with their hands? It just seems odd to say part of our supernatural beliefs are fake, but the whole after part is still real, so listen to us and be good.
