Reddit, what's the smallest good deed you have done recently?

I was picking up my boyfriend from work one night a few weeks ago and before I could enter the building I was approached by someone who looked like a beggar. This is a poorer area and I'm used to it. I'm also used to people trying to scam me.

Being a small women confronted by a weird man I prepared myself to inform him that I didn't have any cash on me and get away from him as quickly as possible. He launched into a story (as I assumed he would) about how he was in need (aren't we all?). Something about being from out of state and something about mowing lawns. I was beginning to lose interest and I'm not gonna lie, he was confusing and irritating.

But then I realized something about what he was saying... He wasn't asking for money at all. He was asking for something to drink, something he could bring home to his family to tide them over for a bit. He reassured me it could be the cheapest pop that the store sold and he would be grateful.

That is where my attitude changed. I realised that this was something I was more than capable of doing for him and at the same time it wouldn't even matter if he was lying to my face because a 2 liter of faygo is like 80 something cents. So I did just that but I had him wait outside so he wouldn't be able to insist that I buy him more and more things (read about that happening to someone on here). It went over well, he was genuinely grateful and I was happy to have done the right thing for someone who was so off putting at first.
