Worked for an IT company where drinking while working was totally acceptable. It became routine both in the office and at lunch. More heavily when shit got bad at work after the client announced bankruptcy and couldn't afford to keep us doing work for them. My whole team was ready to leave and we all started interviewing.

I landed an amazing job offer somewhere else and celebrated with my old team with one last group lunch. Lots of beer. Then I got a call reminding me of the pre-employment piss test. Shit.

Showed up to the testing site an hour later, still unstable. Pissed all over the sample cup and my hands. Tripped/stumbled when handing it to the nurse and got it all over him. I was sure I had fucked myself out of a job.

Ended up getting it anyway, even got invited to start a week early when they found out that my old company let me leave before my 2 weeks notice was up. I stayed there for many years and it was one of my best career moves ever.

I don't drink much anymore, maybe a beer or two or a glass of whiskey a year.
