I will share my story from the opposite side of things. I never knew my real father. Never seen his face and just recently found out his name. My mother married my step dad when I was around 6. I never called him dad because it just didn't feel right.

Anyways he was a truck driver who would be gone for a week or two and then home for a day or two. When he would come home, he was always extremely emotionally abusive to my mother and I (I believe he was doing drugs/drinking on the road). However my mother ALWAYS had my back 100%. I have many stories but most are long and kind of off track. My mother has always had serve migraines and she was sure he was part of the problem,but she didn't want to leave him for financial reasons mostly as she figured we could put up with him a few times a month if he kept sending money.

Fast forward to sometime in November of 2008. My mom gets something in the mail from Discover Card saying they were refunding her purchase of this dress and other items she had never purchased (I'm not sure the reason for the refund). Well my mom never purchased this dress or any of the other items and long story short my step dad had purchased them for a women he was having an affair with.

It's the day before Christmas Eve 2008, I am on the computer and it's around 2:30 in the afternoon. My stepdad had been home for Christmas and outside for most of the day. He made 3 trips from his bedroom past the computer room and outside with items in his hands everytime. The last trip he stopped behind me and said the exact words of "I know you never liked me or wanted anything to do with me but have a good life." And before I could process what was happening or what he had said, the door shut and he drove off.

I have not spoken to or seen him since.
