Redditors who have witnessed a crime: what happened?

Alright, so...I didn't grow up in a great neighborhood. Crime was pretty common. I actually think I got pretty lucky, I was only personally a victim once but that's a completely different story. Anyway, so I was taking a walk at night like a dumb ass. I actually did this quite a lot because it was either that or go back home. It was generally a nice experience. Sure, there was always the thought something bad might happen but I really did not care.

So, I'm out taking a walk one night and it's just the same ol sights. There are a few shifty looking people, druggies, homeless, nothing too out of the ordinary. It's not too terribly late, maybe ten o'clock. The night was actually quite beautiful, the sky was clear with a full moon. I'm moving along minding my own business when I hear yelling in the distance. Being the curious dumb ass I am I go to investigate. I pick up my pace a bit and try to follow the voices. Not long afterwards I find myself right on top of them.

I peak around the corner of the alley and see three people. One is just standing there while the other has some guy pinned against the wall and is yelling in his face. The poor guy that was pinned isn't even try to fight back. He's just begging for his life. At this point I should have gotten the hell out of there, but nope. I just continue to watch. Some more words are exchanged and the guy that was just standing there takes out a gun.

At this point I am just transfixed. I simply can't look away. The pinned guy is just sobbing at this point. The guy with the gun gets really close to his victim for a moment, maybe whispering something, then puts the barrel against his head and fires point blank. Not a pretty sight. They then turn to run away and see me peaking from around the corner. Shit.

We locked eyes for a couple moment then they started running after me and I just took off as fast as I could. By the time they had turned the corner I was a decent distance away but they gave chase anyway. A couple shots were fired at me but luckily these guys usually can't aim for shit. I turn the first corner, which wasn't too far away, to break their line of sight then cross the street and run in another direction.

I continue running faster and harder than I ever have and go to the house of someone I know for the night. I was astonished I actually got away and was way too scared to for go walks for a few months afterwards. I never went to the police or anything so I'm not sure if they were ever caught. But yeah. Fun times.
