I hear you – but that’s IF the gay gets out. If Rey died, it never would. As a wealthy man with a lot to lose, I could see him feeling threatened and lashing out.

Additionally, Porter was no sweet baby angel, he’d already been involved in some shady dealings. That says he’s a tad entitled with little respect for the law.

Also, maybe it was more complicated than just being outed. Could be Rey was ending things for good – he’d just gotten married and wanted to start trying for kids.

Now, that’s a lot of strong emotions at once: anger, jealousy, sadness, fear, paranoia, etc. And if Rey’s no longer involved, Porter can’t count on him to stay silent. Even if it wasn’t probable he’d decide to come clean to his wife one day, now it’s possible. The uncertainty could make you desperate.

It would also explain why Rey left the house in such a rush that night. If Porter called saying he was suicidal or had an accident, of course Rey would run to him.
