Gabby Petito: 911 call reveals witness saw Brian Laundrie ‘hitting’, ‘slapping’ girlfriend days before her disappearance

For some context I was in law enforcement for over a decade.

The problem is contacts like this happen all the time. Every single day you get calls like this and a lot of the times it’s unfounded. You find the couple, maybe they were arguing a little maybe the caller embellished the story, or maybe you have a real domestic situation. All you can really do is separate them and question them away from each other.

And absent something obvious we just don’t arrest everyone who talk to who has been arguing with their spouse or significant other.

In hindsight this sucks right? Like we want to be able to go back and know what was to transpire the next few days. But the truth is if Brian wanted to kill this girl he was going to do it. Imagine best case scenario he gets arrested and spends a few days in jail and then what? From the video I saw Gabby had no interest in pursuing anything against Brian when the police talked to her after this alleged incident.

All too often what we see is the victim going back to her abuser and then what happens?

It reminds me of the Texas Governor recently who said they were going to “end rape” ok pal, if you think so more power to you. But this isn’t the minority report and someone who has an intention to kill their significant other is almost always going to achieve that goal.
