Romaine Lettuce Eaters of Reddit (US/Canada): how have you or anyone you know been affected by the recall?

I work in a restaurant. Called my boss (the owner) to ask him to buy some green leaf lettuce to replace the romaine that we could no longer use, only to have him argue with me. I told him about the CDC alert and he said it didn't matter because our food distributor hadn't told him to throw out the romaine. When I asked him directly if he wanted me to still sell the lettuce, even though the CDC specifically said not to, he said yes. He apparently tried calling me back five minutes before I opened the restaurant (I didn't notice until I closed) and left a frantic message telling me to throw it out. I wonder if he realizes I never asked for his permission to throw away anything. Lol. No way in hell was I serving potentially tainted food. The romaine was in the dumpster before I called him.
