Roth IRA conversion ladder vs 72(T)?

Thanks for all of this input. It is in-line with my thinking as well: 1 year in HISA, 4-5 years in Bonds (2 years worth in Roth currently (we have 3 more years in ROTH at 80/20 I might convert to Bonds, and 5 years+ in tIRA Bonds - which I am buying time until I figure out the right sequence and mix of vehicles). But you misunderstood my CD ladder idea: It would be for year 6 and 7 (maybe up to 10 if I can get closer to 4% returns, we’ll see). So total money on-deck would be 7-10 years. Outside of that it’ll be 80/20. I’m more than ten years out for SSI and my smallish pension, but that might be a good idea to invest more aggressively once I reach 59.5-62.

Besides these holding, we also have half in real estate. So there are a lot of moving parts and possibilities. We could drum up more cash by refinancing in 15 years (additional $1200/mo I estimate).
