RP price adjustment in Europe

No taxes on online products in US? That's weird. In EU from this years beginning you are supposed to tax online products based on the customer's country's tax rate, which would make all these calculations complicated as hell, so let's stick with 23% for simplicity(the average is 21-22% I think).

Adding taxes definitely makes a difference to the issue. I'm quite interested in seeing what happens to UK's RP amounts. If they decrease them with rest of the EU, it shows how much they care about currency disparity as long as they just keep increasing their revenue.

But yeah, I was never accusing Riot of being evil with this move, my post was mostly about how I believe the post you replied to was highlighting UK's pricing and didn't really care about how euro fares against usd.

If we were to entertain ourselves on how this could be seen as an evil move by Riot we could argue that if Euro gets back to 1.4 usd, I really doubt they are going to change the RP amounts back. Though that argument is blaming Riot for future actions. Maybe it's because Riot used to put player experience over money and they've been slowly making things a tiny bit more expensive here and there? I can't really find a good argument for damning Riot for this, now that I know about the tax difference.

So when Riot is making their income, they're not trying to make €400 to pay that guy in Greece. They're trying to make $10,000 to pay that cushy cartoonist who makes all those neat new champion trailers. It's the same concept as buying products manufactured in the US; you're not going to get them cheaper in Europe just because your money won't go as far there. The producer has to think about their profits.

This is the one point I disagree with you. Riot didn't make the game cash on Poland or other low wage countries. The big difference between games and physical products is that the physical products have a real base expense that usually makes a large part of the price. Riot started with an American server and then made an European server and expanded from there. You could say that the cushy cartoonist is paid by revenue from US and richer European countries. The main audience. The poorer countries as just some side revenue. Now why should the prices be lower in these poorer countries? Mostly due to Riot's original policy of player experience over revenue. Games are already being sold for lower price in these countries, why doesn't Riot follow behind? Lowering prices should get more people to pay but I can't know if it would make more total money. It's just ridiculous to ask so much for something that doesn't cost to reproduce.

While doing some googling I came across this article. (I'm surprised I haven't seen that posted in gaming subreddits. Great for Ubisoft circlejerk. Just wanted to share it.)
