The Russian military had just sent "LADA" cars to some of its soldiers, so they could develop a motive to continue dying. The Niva [LADA 4X4] has been serially produced since 1977. Niva received 0 out of 16 points for a frontal hit in the magazine's EuroNCAP crash test in 2002.

After the fall of the Soviet Union. My country was allowed to import LADAs. My parents got one, a Riva, because it was dirt cheap and we were poor as fuck at the time. I was about 10. This is when I first experienced embarrassment in my life. My pals, my pals parents, my teachers, everyone you could think of was laughing at us and making fun of us, because of this horrible baby blue box of a car. The steering wheel, clutch and gear stick you would swear was lifted from a tractor. No ABS, airbag, power steering or Aircon. It was hidious. Broke down all the time.

We also got stranded on a beach with it and had to get pulled out before the tide got us. I really really fucking hate ladas
