Salty Saturday - Venting is good for the soul

A weekend position opened up at my job in October. It was the supervisory position for the department on weekends and I was already working weekends, so I was quite familiar with the job. The guy leaving said I should take it, boss said I should take it, no one else wanted it, so I just hopped in. I formally applied and was accepted through HR 3 weeks later. So I was working the normal job 3 days a week and then being the 'boss' on weekends. I didn't see my pay bump, so I contacted HR and they said "Ohhhhh, yeah, we totally forgot to tell you that you didn't have the experience we asked for and that you actually can't have the job - talk to your boss".

Boss said he was working on it - he might be able to get me a different title with a lower pay bump but still doing the same thing. Usually experience requirements aren't exact and I legit didn't think it would be an issue. Not to brag, but I am one of the best in the department. I work in a hospital and I love my job and it shows. Plus literally no one else applied to the job.

I kept working it while waiting for answers - again, it's a small department and this is still a job that needs to be done in a hospital. Had this been a different job, I would have said 'fuck it' and left.

Today is 3 months since HR told me they didn't want me. However, they only formally withdrew the offer one month ago. When I ask HR for updates, they say ask the boss. The boss says he's trying but HR is taking their sweet time.

Like what the fuck. I wrote my local labor law rep to ask for the technical laws on back-pay because I want to know what I'm standing on when I fight HR for my money.

But fuck - it's really hard to stay professional and not write HR with a blunt honest email explaining how little I already make for being in healthcare and that I feel shit on for this and asking if they are hoping I'll quit. I love my job and my team but this is also my first 'professional' job dealing with big HR and I'm so flustered. I've been doing this job for almost 4 months on the weekends and I'm feeling very stepped on.
