Disclaimer: I love Dragon Quest... but hear me out. Is it just me or was the Heliodor Castle dungeon segment at the beginning of the game really contrived?

"The Seer told me this would happen!" Straight up just bad writing.

Oh boy. If you think "cliche" or "has a TV Tropes page" is synonymous with "bad writing", you are not going to have a good time in this story. Things happening as they were destined to is very Dragon Quest.

Interesting twists mixed with cliches is what makes a DQ plot. I'm sure you'll still enjoy the game, but if you get this urge to write a thread on "bad writing" every time a fantasy cliche shows up, or the story events seem too deliberate and convenient... you're going to spend more time writing threads than playing the game.

If you really don't like the cliches, it's fine, but if you think they're objectively bad writing or whatever, I really hope you'll still manage to enjoy this game, since Heliodor Castle is very standard for the game/series.
