I'm a man who married a woman who is an engineer. I'm also an engineer in a different field. We went to the same school and shared some friends but didn't meet until some time after graduation. We did have a great OKCupid rating but actually ran into each other while at a social event which kind of short-circuited the traditional online dating loop. Dating kind of sucked for both of us before then so I don't have good advice there.

However I'll say I wasn't intimidated by her, we were on a pretty level footing from the get-go. Both professionals in their fields and able to respect each other's interests. It helped we both had jobs to pay for fun dates.
