Sen. Rand Paul on the new senate spending bill: "If you were against President Obama's deficits, and now you're for the Republican deficits, isn't that the very definition of hypocrisy?"

You mean he spent to correct the busted economy that Bush left him.

Government spending prolongs recovery, because it inefficiently allocates resources. Even spending borrowed money prolongs recovery, because it sucks up capital that could have been spent optimally and throws it at "shovel ready" projects which are incredibly wasteful. In a free economy, corrections would be small, rapid, and constant, because failure wouldn't be subsidized. The government spending from 2009 forward just pumped up bubbles again, which are due for popping. Only the bubbles are bigger this time.

And had to keep paying for all the wars that Bush started.

Military spending is not a significant fraction of the budget. Not even a third.

The Deficit after that kept declining under Obama.

And he still added more to the national debt than any of his predecessors. He's the #1 fucking drunken sailor president.
