Friend of my sister's, not mine.

My sister was a goth in high school. There were three high schools in the area, and all the goth kids from all the schools pretty much knew each other and functioned as one giant group of friends.

Sister was basically of the grand poobah of the goths, and so there was always a shitload of them over at our house, drinking and playing DDR or having MSI dance parties. That was my entire high school experience, just coming home every day to an ocean of jingling Tripp pants in my living room

Anyway, the kid's name was Steven. I won't retract his name because this was a national news story back in the day and everyone already knows who he is.

I never noticed anything about him that was "off" or "out of place" in comparison to the rest of the goths. Just a quiet, well mannered kid who dressed and acted like Vash the Stampede. Liked wearing top hats, carried his school stuff around in a suitcase, standard goth stuff. Given the nature of the crime though, I don't think he was some sick fuck with a lust for blood or anything. He was extremely sheltered and got into a bad situation that he was unequipped to deal with. And so he did a really, really shitty thing.

Right, the crime. Shortly after high school, he got himself into a relationship with a 14/15 year old girl. Lord knows what was going through his head, but I'm guessing the dude thought he was in love or something.
Her mom walked in on them having sex one day, flipped her shit, and from what I understand was gonna go to the police and have him charged with L&L w/ a minor. He stabbed her to death. Currently serving a life sentence.

And the way the local goth community dealt with it was... well... they didn't, really. Nobody ever talked about him again. It never happened and he never existed.
