[Serious] People that have been held at gunpoint/knifepoint, what were you thinking about in that moment?

I wasn't held at gunpoint per se but I used to worked at a dispensary that was robbed by dudes with guns. What i was thinking was simple, grab the money and run like hell before they shoot up the place.

Our store was in the absolute shittiest part of Toronto and the entire street frequently had armed robberies. Ffs one time the Domino's next door got robbed at 11am and the crackhead shot somebody. So naturally I was more or less just waiting for the day it would happen. I was always prepared to some degree because I carried a 9 inch knife on my hip, but guns are a whole other charge if we were to get raided.

Anwyay the day of I remember I had just finished a joint when I looked up at the cameras and saw a group of guys storm in. They said something to our female coworker up front and I asked my manager (who later turned out to be in on it) "are we getting robbed?" "Yup" was his response.

At that point they pulled out their guns and held our coworker at gunpoint as well as threatening to open fire through the wall. Thankfully the store was designed like a fortress, the front door could only be opened by someone in the frontroom, but the backroom (which was behind a 4 inch thick steel door) could only be opened from inside the backroom. So their efforts to find a switch in the frontroom were pointless.

Meanwhile I was in a 100% adrenaline fueled trance, almost like in a dream. I remember sneaking glances at the camereas but like I said earlier the only thing I could think about was grab the money and fucking run.

I grabbed all the money and burst out of the hidden door we had like a bat out of hell, I ran so fast I surprised the guy they had out back waiting to intercept me. I ran full tilt for 5 straight blocks till I was on a decent street again.
