[Serious] People who have taken one of those DNA heritage tests, what did it say about you? Any pros or cons of taking a test?

I haven't taken it but my aunt did. While it did give us some interesting insight into her father's side (mum and aunt had different dads), it also gave her a surprise on my grandmother's side. Turns out at some point in the past 7 generations, there was a bit of African (nebulous term, I know, but bear with me) descent. Now for context: my grandmother is racist AF. Like "won't eat the food if served by a black person" racist. This is made even more awkward by the fact that I'm half black.

I've only met my grandmother once in my life and my only memory is of her calling me "changito" ("little monkey" for the non-Spanish speakers). Anyhow, most of us resolved never to tell her since she's at that age where she wouldn't take the news well. Unfortunately, my uncle ignored the memo and told her. She's been ghosting everyone on her phone for a week now.

So pro's: learn more about your genetic history and gain a newfound appreciation for humanity's interconnections. Cons: your racist grandma will find out she's got African ancestry and refuse to accept that reality.
