[Serious] Redditors who gave up pursuing their 'dream' to settle for a more secure or comfortable life, how did it turn out and do you regret your decision?

I wanted to be a music composer, but I had to get a nearly perfect score in SAT to enter a good university and major it, as I was living in Korea. My score was only grade 3 and got accepted to study a foreign language at a decent university in Seoul. And then my life suddenly changed as my family got green card approved to immigrate to US and I was told I can choose whatever the major I want to study at the local community college, studied music again. I was getting straight A’s in all my music classes, music theory, ear training, was loving performing in the jazz band, orchestra, choir, etc. and then I saw my classmate rocking Rachmaninoff’s piano concerto when I was just learning to play Chopin’s Fantaisie Impromptu. I saw other classmates able to play solo in the jazz band when I was sorely playing what’s written on the score. So I realized I wasn’t gifted or creative enough and didn’t see myself making money in music. Changed my major back to foreign language studies and got a BA, and has become a localization professional. Currently in the gaming industry supporting the VR game developers on localizing their games in other languages so that their awesome content can reach more users around the globe. I do not regret and I love what I do.
