(Serious) Redditors who still smoke cigarettes: why?

I don't feel like I could quit successfully at this stage in my life. I have been through an awful lot of trauma in the past couple years. I lost everything. A few years back I tried a free hypnotherapy app on my phone to quit smoking - it worked for 16 hours - my partner laughed at me when I told him this, but it was a record for me as I would usually want a cigarette the minute I wake up.

Terrified of catching Covid right now combined with being made redundant, don't think it's something I could do alone right now. Being honest, I don't have the willpower - you have to want to quit but even then it's very tough for most people, in my experience at least. One of my ex colleagues suddenly quit smoking one day cold turkey and I asked her what made her stop altogether. She simply said she got fed up of the taste and smell. She never smoked again or even craved it.
