I was robbed in Berlin in a really popular hostel. Went for a smoke with friends, left my jacket for a few minutes outside while I searched for something in my room. Note that the security camera was facing a small fence that I left my jacket on.

In the jacket, I left all of my documents and my wallet, as well as my e-cig, which was really stupid of me.

After about two minutes, when I came back outside, the jacket was gone, so I go to the front desk (the receptionist was facing the fence directly from his point of view, as the door was see-through) to ask if they have seen anything.

"No, I haven't and you're stupid" they said. So I ask about the camera. "Nah man, that one doesn't work". Seems sketchy, huh? Somehow other cameras were perfectly fine.

So I called the police, told them where I was and that I am leaving Berlin in about an hour, which was true. Left the guy at the reception my number in case he somehow found my stuff.

Not an hour after I arrived at home (Poland here) I got a call.

"Hey MRG, we found your stuff, but without Euro's, your e-cig isn't there either, we can mail it to you".

How did it get there? - I asked.

"Some guy walked in and gave it to us."

I was really happy so I didn't care that this was really shady. Paid for the package and got my wallet back.

Any suspicions about who the robber could be? :)

I should add that the hostel was full of "beware of thieves, the hostel is not responsible for any lost items, lock your doors".
