My boyfriend and I were biking past the house of the token white trash family in my neighborhood. They had been remodeling their house for over ten years, their yard a mess of construction material and other junk. They also had three mean pit mixes and a hole in their fence.

So that night, we were biking past (I was on the back of his bike) and the dogs start barking like crazy. One of them gets through the hole in the fence and gets in front of the bike. The other two are still behind the fence, jumping and going crazy. We're screaming for help and no one comes. I turn my head and see the family on their porch, standing in their yard.

They could see and hear us but they did nothing.

I scream for them to call off their dogs. The traffic hasn't slowed down enough for us to risk making a break for it. The dog is lunging, about to attack. And then finally, one of the owners speaks in this accent right out a Rob Zombie horror movie

"Maybe you shouldn't have been walkin' by here."

The traffic finally slows down enough and we just go for it. The dog who made it out bites at us and almost gets me. In the middle of the street, I get off the bike and start running, screaming and crying. I think I pissed myself. We keep on going until we're at my house. My mom had to help me use my inhaler because I couldn't calm down.

We did call the police but for some reason, no one was arrested and the dogs stayed. They were told to fix their fence but they didn't do that for several months. It wasn't until over a year later that the dogs were taken away. According my parents, they still live in that house.

Funny enough, I had a nightmare about the incident this morning.
