This will probably get buried, but this incident still makes me feel uneasy nearly 10 years later.

I had just found out my friend's cancerous tumour had come back and was growing rapidly. Super emotional, I decided to go for a walk in my very safe, very suburban neighbourhood at 4am with just my ipod to keep me company. This was in December and fresh snow had just fallen, covering any tracks that were on the ground from the day.

A few blocks from my house I notice a guy walking on the opposite side of the street, in the same direction. I recognize him as one of two brothers from high school who have a bad reputation. Drug dealing, gang involvement, assault, etc. A chill creeps up my spine and I decide to casually turn around and walk home, holding my ipod up to my ear like a phone.

I lived near a grocery store, and overnight they would have stacks and stacks of pallets outside after unloading a delivery. I try not to glance back too much, but when I'm about 100m from my building, I look back and he is creeping along these stacks like this, lit by the bright overhead lights of the grocery store lot. It was freaky as fuck, my adrenaline kicked into high gear and I booked it home as fast as I could without slipping on the snow.

When I got home, I told my bf what was up. We looked out the window which had a clear view of the lot and didn't see anything. Grabbed a hammer and decided to go outside (yeah we were young and high on adrenaline) and followed the only set of tracks on the ground to an apartment building two blocks away.

I don't know which brother it was, but I'm 98% sure it was the youngest. He has since been convicted of rape, and his own mother has gone on record to say that she is afraid of when he will be released and has altered her identity and sought protective custody so he can't find her.

I'm sure he was high on crack or meth or something.
