[Serious] What's the closest you've ever come to losing your life?

My friends and I live near the Great Lakes and we wanted to see how far we could swim out. We swam past the buoys and all of a sudden the waves got gigantic, we started swimming back but by that time I was exhausted and the waves kept on crashing around me and I kept going under water. My whole body was tired and I felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere close to the beach, I went under water another time and just stayed there thinking this was the end. I was so close to giving up and just letting the current take me, then all of a sudden I just got the boost of energy and swam with everything I had till I was able to barely touch the bottom of the lake and stand up. Still to this day the scariest situation I’ve ever been in and the closest to death I’ve ever been.
