[Serious]What's the most awkward date you've been on and what made it awkward?

My most awkward date actually happens to also be my best date ever.

I show up to the house and her sister greets me at the door. "Come on inside, Rose (we'll call her Rose) will be right out. Do you want some tequila?" I politely decline, and get a very strange look from her. "Ok... Do you want a beer? No? Ok, you can wait over there. The guys are all having a drink and you can join them while you wait". Then her other sister pops out, "hey you must be PizzND, nice to meet you. Want some tequila? No? Here have a beer then. No? You sure? Oh come on... Really? No? Ok". At this point I'm trying to explain I'll be driving Rose around, and trying to make a good impression. But they keep looking at each other like "what is wrong with this gringo???" I guess I should mention Rose comes from a large traditional Mexican family, and I'm white as can be. I make my way over to where the men are sitting. "Hey, you're taking out Rose? Nice to meet you. Here, have a tequila!" At this point I'm like what the fuck is up with this tequila!?!? I once again politely decline. They all stop talking and stare at me. "Come on man, we have some really nice tequila, you really don't want any?" He looked like his feeling were hurt, like I was offending him. I finally agree to have some tequila, I didn't want to make a bad first impression and it was obviously very important to them. Then one of the guys stands up "hey PizzND, want some lemonade to chase it!" Everybody at the table laughs, and of course I immediately think he's mocking me. But I politely declined, drank the tequila, and took out Rose. Several years later I married Rose. And even later I learned that her brother in law genuinely thought the English word for lime was lemonade.
