The cost of fixing Cyberpunk 2077 is "irrelevant" compared to restoring company reputation, says CDPR - CDPR promisses to fix the game at any cost

A fair amount of people were expressing displeasure at the postponed release dates. Now that it’s out, a fair amount pf people are complaining about there being too many bugs.

In truth, some of my favorite games famously had game breaking bugs on release. Most notably, Skyrim. (But also Fallout New Vegas.)

My personal belief is, like indie developers do, release a prerelease version prior to the final. Give it at least a year before making it an official release.

The size and scope of these games is so immense that there’s going to be lingering bugs for years.

I’m finding that the grand release creates unfulfilled expectations that you just don’t have with other games. Plus, the updates are rejoiced and welcomed.

On the other hand, developer costs. At some point, a studio and publisher need to start making their costs back in volume. So, the big release date.

But the bigger the game, the more unfinished they seem at release. Which isn’t so much of a real problem as it is a perceived problem as new games of this scope are patched many times-post release... Until they are in a reality, a finished game.
