I grew up in California in the 80s where they had bussing programs to bring kids from other neighborhoods into the white neighborhood school. The only result was I grew up unafraid of people of different skin colors because they were my friends and at least 1/2 of my class was always non-white so it was never strange to me. When you're interacting with someone on a daily basis in positive ways, you stop defining them by their outward physical characteristics, or at least its importance is vastly deemphasized.

As far as I'm concerned bussing programs and school integration was a wild success for my generation and it's insane they're still pushing back against it.
