Severe social anxiety in NYC

I really pitty people with SA having to live in cities. Having said that, is there not some form of anonymity living in such a 'sterile', high-energy environment? Where I live, in a town, most people will stare at you and turn their heads if you suffer from SA - it's pretty horrible.

If you are skipping meals and going home, I think you seriously need to see someone about it. The SA is controlling your entire life which means it needs to be controlled more than just posting on forum boards on Reddit like most.

I think you just need to keep telling yourself things that you're good at/things that are inherently good about you. Embrace your differences. I've been doing so a lot over the past few weeks (embracing my individuality, being proud of being an oddball) and it's actually had a very positive effect on me. Of course, I still can't speak to friends or in a friendly manner, etc. but at least, while I'm walking down a street, or buying something in a shop, it's helped me greatly.

Embrace the SA and your oddities! Obviously, it'll help to an extent, but you need to see a councillor about the eating thing etc. That's only gong to lead to eating problems and more self hatred down the line.
