the shame of not being able to provide for family?

I can only tell you, that when my 1st/2nd/3rd were born, I worked 2 jobs for the next 5 years. We lived on the edge of lower-middle class, not enough to qualify for gov. support and every credit card was maxed.

For myself, here's what I learned over the next 30 years. How much money I made was less important then how much money I didn't spend. And most importantly, how much time I lost with my children can never be regained. Point being, those 5 years (in my mind) are a blank, I don't remember any of it, I don't remember the 1st steps, the 1st anything, because I was busy working & sleeping.

Your kids won't care how much money you make, they care more about the time they get to spend with you, so focus on this aspect of providing.
