Why do some people still have an issue with the existence of gay people?

Humans are interesting creatures.

For some, it’s all they know because that’s how they learned it from their parents.

For others, it’s a fear-based reaction. Not in the sense you would typically understand fear— just a rejection of the message.

For example, a person is totally okay with some people being gay, but their religion and belief system tells them it’s wrong and that gay people need help. These people may eventually get to a point where they see it as wrong but that Jesus loves them anyway and maybe the Bible can be reinterpreted. This would take incremental steps and personal engagement through targeted messages, but even then the message may not be present enough for them.

What happens who these people who see it as wrong don’t get change their beliefs incrementally to fit the new norms of society? Well, they reject the message all-together. They’re done talking about it and they’re mad that the dissonance they are feeling isn’t addressed.
