Why do some Type 1s only take 2 injections a day whilst I’ve to take 4?

I take 2-4 shots of Levemir a day. I reduce carbs to less than 60 or 70 g/day — maybe more. It’s like an hours-long-delayed bump-n-nudge. It’s never the same in a week. Some rare days I can use just one. I’m probably honeymooning LADA to some degree, so it depends on each individual’s preferences and needs, length of time since diagnosis, age at diagnosis, and their intake of carbs and protein, and exercise. Some LADA choose to put off insulin until dietary changes and metformin fail to manage. That’s their choice. There are many ways to treat — carb-counting is one technique; bumping-and-nudging or surfing is another, cutting carbs helps a lot of people, being more physically active, and finding a decent way to test many times per day are all reported as being helpful. If you prefer to “eat normal” with higher carbs, then yeah you’ll be needing to count carbs. Best of luck to you. Sorry you have to go through it. You’ll learn a lot quickly.
