Son: Mom, why is she sleeping while standing? Mom: She on that DOGG-FOOD son

Thanks. Sorry if my previous post was harsh but after seeing mentally ill people, people on novel psychoactive substances, and people with a dual diagnosis of mental and substance use disorders...it's hard to stumble upon this sub for two reasons:

1) I'm not just a former addict. I studied inorganic chemistry and NPS. There's absolutely no evidence backing the classification of clips, aside from misinformed guesswork, and in many cases it's worse than misidentifying the substance...it's clear evidence of mental illness that people simply consider so abnormal that they pigeon hole it into a substance.

2) If it is a substance, there's absolutely no thought given to the individual. Severe withdrawal can present as strangely as the effects of the substance. Mental illness can present more strangely than your average substance abuse. Waxy Sometimes the two feed into each other, whether they start with mental illness leading to self medicating substance abuse or vice versa. Waxy catatonia / flexibility for example would get tagged as some random substance here, despite being a feature of schizophrenia rather than any substance, simply because it's odd.

This is essentially a freak show that punches down at those suffering from substance abuse disorders at best, and those suffering from mental illness at worst. Often somewhere in between. Tone deaf, voyeuristic, punching down at the most vulnerable and desperate people for chuckles. Addicts need their fix, often have physical, sexual, and other forms of abuse they're self medicating. What fix is this sub satisfying that's so needed, and what's constructive about it?

If you want to do something constructive other than immortalise and mock the most vulnerable at their most vulnerable, please seek out local harm reduction groups. I look at these people (assuming they are probably under the influence) and think of many of my friends who were gang raped, trafficked, and enslaved for money as children, sold their bodies, and did things they'd never have done if not for the unimaginably hard lives that led them to self medicate.

Do you think about that before you laugh at these people? Or are they just fair game? Sorry to "rain on the parade" but why is human misery funny? These people need help; not to have their worst moments immortalised and mocked under a very thin veil of pretending to humanise them. Admit it: they're the butt of a cheap, short lived laugh here and nothing more.
