The lawyer they hired has worked hand-in-glove with governments his entire career. He's hardly an "independent investigator".

The argument that biases can prevent you from serving effectively on an oversight committee is outlandish and it's surprising that any lawyer is dumb enough to attach his name to such a statement.

Seats for the oversight committee should be appointed by election. The city council, police department, and Bob from Arkansas shouldn't have any say in the matter.

Police don't let drug dealers pick the detectives working their case. We shouldn't let police pick the oversight committee working theirs. It's common sense.

This is nothing personal against law enforcement either. I have family who serve in another state and havent had a problem with police since I moved here. But, man... Wow.
