I'm not advocating despondency or doom-scrolling - quite the opposite. People should recognize that the climate crisis is a serious threat today and take actions to deal with it.
Putting aside your oddly blasé dismissal of a die-off of up to 60% of the European population:
In your experience, how often do productive decisions, effective plans, and fully considered judgements arise from anxiety-induced frisson?
How often are such situations exploited by bad actors taking advantage of fear and anxiety to exploit their own selfish interests?
One doesn’t need a constant state of anxiety to make good decisions for the future. In fact, I’d say it’s pretty clearly at odds with actually doing so.
