Guys keep winning at 170 all the time. Luque kept winning for a while, and ZDS kept winning for a while, and Geoff Neal is winning a lot now. They didn't get the steps up that Burns is, to a ranked guy at the time in Gunnar Nelson off the win over Alexey Kunchenko (and that's a good win, I like Kunchenko a lot, but it was also an arguable draw and Kunchenko's not on another tier to the wins of many of the guys who got stranded forever under #10).

Burns got treated eminently reasonably, but 170 is usually not a division of reason. That's where he cut the line, with Leon Edwards taking like 4 lateral steps in a row before a top-5 opponent where it took Burns two fights at the weight class
