(spoilers aired) episode quality

I was basing it off the 7 stages of Grief...so for the hardcore George/Book dickriders and D&D haters I imagine it would like this:

  1. Shock and Denial: We were sure that GOT was going in the wrong direction--none of the storylines are following the books anymore, WTF is happening. Sansa rape scene? No way. Nope this show has just gone too far.

  2. Pain and Guilt: Oh shit, maybe I was wrong about the things I said this season. I actually judged this show too soon to see the plot lines develop, and oh my god, D&D may have actually made one or two plot lines more clever than they were in the books. Oh my god not better than the books, they are the bible, my pain...

  3. Anger and Bargaining: Well the show has had its good and bad episodes. I guess maybe the Jorah and Tyrion plotline is kind of cool, and I can get over the loss of Barristan. But god damnit why did they let Sansa get raped?

  4. Depression/Reflection/Loneliness: Posters go silent. Brain isn't working right. Reads books. Watches show again. Can't decide what to do.

  5. Upward Lift: Okay I must admit I do love this show...it may not be perfect but it has not gone downhill in any way. Those massive books are hard to condense into 10 hours of TV. I can accept the absence of some characters, and some of the new plot lines are actually kind of intriguing.

  6. Reconstruction: TWOW may actually follow some of these plot lines further. Maybe George was actually heading the same direction as D&D (just more slowly). The more I think about it, the more I realize the show really hasn't deviated that far from the books...its only condensed what it had to. COME ON TWOW MAKE IT TRUE.

finally

  1. Acceptance: I enjoy watching GOT as much as I like reading ASOIAF. I understand they are two separate mediums attempting to tell the same story. In the books I get rich detail, more characters, history etc....and the TV show gives me a condensed version that is highly entertaining and allows me to visualize the characters I love in the books. My praise is equal to both.

And there, ladies and gentleman, and the 7 steps to accepting Game of Thrones and ASOIAF as separate mediums telling the same fantastic story
