Spoilers][Rewatch] Trinity Seven - Episode 8: "Study and Holiday" - Discussion Thread

Tl;DR Reddit did some fuckery with their algorithms in the past year and I think several of the changes may influence how self-post rewatch threads interact with the general 'hot' ranking and that change doesn't effect link posts in the same way so the threads were probably harder to find until yesterday....

Well I was posting it like a normal rewatch and it got quite a few upvotes the very first day, but while I swear on me mum that I'd been planning this for a while (I've got a couple posts mentioning it going back nearly a month!), I had trouble getting the announcement/advertising bit to be very effective and I think it ended up with as many net upvotes after a few days as the freaking BLack Bullet one.... I'm not 100% positive but something is weird about threads like these and how they accumulate votes and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it's related to the changes to self-posts and the front page algorithms.

Not that I'm doing a good job with these rewatches in the first place I guess, but I swear just switching it from a self-post to a link to a selfpost on another subreddit changed how the initial popularity of the thread was interpreted even if after a sufficient number of hours the total up/down votes numbers seems to be probably correct. Er, that is, suspicious voting patterns on self posts may be treated different than on link posts because of various changes to reddit in the last year and one of those changes involves making it harder to use a small number of quickly given votes to inflate a thread higher in the overall sorting algorithm and generally rewatch threads will see most of their comments in the first few hours after the initial excitement and I think comments shoudl roughly correlate to votes and while these link posts show the expected early jump, self posts show a delayed jump which doesn't match the comment activity....
