Yes, for me at least.

I never had problem watching shows/playing games with different ethnicity/same-sex characters and whatnot. As long it is in the show natural like all other characters are and not make a big deal about it. Unless maby of course the episode or show is about racism (a good one). But if they put in these character for the sake of making it a big deal, it gets annoying.

Like I recently watched the documentary "High Score" on Netflix. Was OK on the most part (already knew most what it had to offer). But what was annoying was the 3-4 early parts in the serie when they interviewd the LGBT people. It's not that I hate them or anything like that. But how different the interview went for the sake to promote them for being LGBT. It didn't go "Hi I'm XXX and I worked on this or did that which I/we figured out by...". No, they had to go with "Hi I'm XXX and I'm proud over this thing I did as a LGBT person becaus I feel more something".
