I want to start mma but my parents are concerned with me doing it

I'm going to suggest that you don't get into competitive MMA. It's an extremely rough sport on the body, on your mind, and on your quality of life the whole way through. Your chances of any kind of success are extremely small while your chances of life long, debilitating damage are almost guaranteed. There are very few people who went through their fight careers only being the hammer and you can destroy your tendons, rack up long term traumatic brain injuries, ruin your neck, your back, your shoulders, your knees, etc. just in the practice room.

Fighting to make your money is one of those things you want to do if you're exceptional among exceptional individuals at it, can make your millions in a short period of time, and get out with your health. If there is literally any other option for you as a career path I would recommend you take that instead.
