[Stein] Andre Drummond is bypassing free agency and picking up his $28.7 million player option for next season to stay with the Cavaliers, league sources said

Look, I know how Drummond plays. Ive been a Pistons fan my whole life. Ive seen this man tip back his own misses like 3-4 times in a single possession. Also, thats his main job, to secure rebounds. Ive seen Westbrook do similar shit, having Adams box out for all of Russells rebounds. Ive seen Kevin Love box out his out teammates to grab rebounds. Yeah, it can be an issue sometimes but its not just a Drummond thing. Hes going to get anyone he plays for more second chance opportunities, and hes going to try and score off those opportunities instead of passing out. Thats just how he plays. Hes also an extremely underrated defensive player. He may not be an elite rim protector like guys like Embiid or Gobert, but he has the tools to be a threat on defense some games. He plays the passing lanes better than any Center in the league and thats just a fact. He was first in steals per game among centers last season. Just because he stole someones rebound a few times shouldnt discredit him as a player, the only thing that does discredit him is his contract and thats the point im trying to make. Put him on an appropriate salary and we wouldn't even be having this conversation.
