Strange lights over central Michigan. Saturday 8/22 at roughly 11pm EDT. View was looking SSW. We watched it for about 10 minutes. (1st time posting here. If I'm in the wrong place, please let me know.)

Additional information: The buildings and tree line visible in a couple of the pictures are about 300m from where we were. The light was stationary in the sky, and looked bright orange, like a burning fire. It was very high and I almost thought it must be a rocket launch or something re-entering. It lasted too long though. We watched for at least 10-15 minutes, and who knows how long it was there before we noticed it (my friend's son yelled what's that!). It was much too high and stationary to be a Chinese lantern or anything like that. Even military flares fall, this did not. I honestly do not know what it was. The moon was below the horizon at this time as well. We were at a gathering at my friends house with multiple people, including kids seeing it. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears.

I apologize for the horrible pictures. It was a cell phone camera and I was using the digital zoom.
