Taco Bell employee fired after denying service to AL sheriff deputies

You say things like " 1 unjustified shooting and cops are the scum of the earth" when it's been said multiple times that the shootings are apart of a bigger issue, not the sole issue.

I'll assume, based on your post, that you think people who have issues with the police are the kind of people who just want to yell buzz words like "Racist!" without knowing the full story. Well, your stance is basically the same extreme reaction but on the other side of the spectrum. You are both wrong, there are valid points on each side but neither of you will come to the middle. And watching to much TV or engaging in scream fests on social media only further separates people from solutions.

You literally address nothing about police corruption or misconduct or how police police themselves and are rarely held to the same standard of the law as other citizens (Which was the point of my post you responded too) Those are the issues, somewhere along the line police became above the law. Not just the police but the criminal justice system as a whole.

Your stance police reform is meaningless is really kind of scary. I don't know if you have that stance because you think nothing needs to be changed or because it won't matter. Here is a change I would like - I would like the requirements to be a police officer changed. In my town and all the counties around my town, you only need a HS Diploma and you have to pass a drug test and physical to qualify to become an officer. That is ridiculous to me. As cliche as it sounds, with great power comes great responsibility so why should we hand out such great power with such little requirement?

"The question is, what police reform is actually reasonable in a place where people are armed to the teeth?"

You think people in this country are armed to the teeth? It's one thing if a police officer is working in a gang infested area where bullets fly night and day, it's another thing when someone ends up dead after being pulled over in the burbs for having a tail light out. We can't lump all of these shootings into the same narrative.

"The cops simply cannot wait for the guy to pull a gun out and start shooting at them before they shoot"

what? Who expects this? I hope no one legitimately expects this from police officers.

It seems you want to only blame the victims when there is certainly enough blame to go around. I guess I don't understand your faith and trust in the authorities , as if they are always telling the truth and doing the right thing and unless you have 100% video evidence you won't believe anything said against them. Even though it's been documented that police have been guilty of destroying and tampering with evidence, including body cams (which only just recently have started to become mandatory in certain places) and a multitude of other crimes.

"If a cop points a gun at you and you don't know what to do, you lay the fuck down and put your hands on the back of your head and you don't move. Sort it out later."

I agree with you, only because I wouldn't want to lose my life to a trigger happy cop, but this isn't something that should even be happening. Do we really want to live somewhere where a cop can just pull out his gun and order you to do something and you have to comply? Then, when you try to make a complaint your more than likely going to be shut down because it's your word against the officers. Citizens should not feel powerless over the power that governs them.

There is a lot wrong with the justice system in this country and flat out denying it or justifying it is only going to make the problem worse.
