Teachers, who is the worst parent you have encountered?

so about ten years ago, i was teaching a small english class at a relatively large high school on the east coast. not going to specify which. the kids were 12th graders.

so one day, we all get up to have class outside on the football field. we walk to the field and are all hanging out in the bleachers, the kids having gone to form their own little groups amongst themselves. i see one kid, we'll call him charles, talking into his shirt. now, i don't know about you, but i've never seen a person talk into their shirt before. i walk over to charles and ask him what he's doing, just in case this was some sort of elaborate senior prank.

"nothing," he replies nervously. unconvinced, i sit back down, eyeing him just in case he was planning something. now, here's a little backstory. charles was known as the disruptive loner in his grade. no real friends, bad penchant for speaking loudly in class and mocking his peers. charles' parents were separated, with his mother being the domineering parent in whose custody he was placed for the weekdays. his mother had a nasty reputation for being a control freak and had accused me several times before of being too harsh in grading him the one or two times he was in my class before senior year.

after seeing charles talk into his shirt a thousand times over the course of the next hour and suspiciously staring at a mound of grass on the field and constantly eyeing it, i walk over to him, approaching from behind, and catch him TALKING INTO A SMALL WIRE SNAKING THROUGH HIS SHIRT.

i stop him and very calmly ask "charles, what on earth are you doing." and why are you staring at that pile of grass on the field. trembling, charles tells me he is talking to his mother and that he's very nervous right now.

and then it hits me as soon as the mound of grass starts MOVING ON THE FIELD. IT GETS UP, AND PROCEEDS TO WALK TOWARDS US. IT WAS CHARLES MOTHER IN A FULL GHILLIE SUIT SPYING ON THE CLASS.

at this point i am freaking out and run inside to contact the vice principal. they called the police and from there it was taken out of my hands.

i later learned that charles' mother was trying to spy on the class to have some sort of harassment claim to file against me. she was later charged in court with harassment herself.

i have since left the school.
