I presume this is the article in the link above that you're talking about? I honestly don't see the issue - The article is factually correct, Allende was committing much worse attacks on the Chilean constitution and Chilean democracy than what Trump did with his Jan 6 bullshit. Yeah, in hindsight supporting the military rule didn't age well - but at the time (this was written very shortly after the coup) the group of four were making public statements about returning back to democracy soon. This was viewed at the time more like 1971 military memorandum than some tinpot generallisimo taking power.

If they were publishing articles after that in 1974 onwards in favour of Pinochet then, yeah, they rightly deserve criticism.
